Yachats (pronounced "yaw hots") is a small coastal city in Lincoln County, Oregon. According to some sources, the name, Yachats, has been traced back to the Siletz language, and means "at the foot of the mountain". The Yachats River separates the city. To the northern side you will find the larger half of the resort community, where most of the commercial businesses can be found. Yachats is indeed a small recreational town with a base population of 617 as of the 2000 census.
