How do register and list my property?

TheVacationBug.com has made it simple to register and list your property quickly and easily. This can be done by clicking on “List A Property.” Simply fill in your property information and some registration information and your property will be listed in front of thousands of potential renters. After listing your property make sure you take the time to add / update photos, amenities, rates and always keep a current calendar.

How much does this service cost?

Advertising with The Vacation Bug is absolutely FREE. There are no hidden or annual fees and no need to ever go through a renewal process. You are only charged by The Vacation Bug when we provide you with a renter for your property. In other words, you do not pay us until we have made you money. What could be better than that?

You do have the option to spend more per booking. Currently the minimum charge for a booking is a low $25. If you would like to have your property increase in placement or even become a featured property you can increase the fee you are willing to pay for renters. Remember, you never pay a dime unless your property is actually booked.

How do I Edit my property information?

As a registered owner with The Vacation Bug, you will have full access to all or your properties and all of the edit features. You can edit your property description, rates, calendar, rooms, and amenities at any time. All you need to do is login and identify which property you would like to edit. Simply click on the field you would like to edit and save all corrections by clicking on the save button. It is that simple.

Why hasn’t my new listing posted?

All of our listings must be verified before we can make them available to the public. Your listing request has been received and is currently in a pending status. Within 24 hours your property will be verified and will appear to the public for rent. In the event there is a problem with your listing, The Vacation Bug will contact you right away to make sure any errors are corrected.

I forgot my password

Don’t worry, it happens all the time. Simply click on “ RECOVER HERE” and we will make sure and get your password sent to your email within minutes.

How do I edit my account information?

Simply login to your account and you will have full access to edit all information. Any changes to your account will be verified by The Vacation Bug before approval. Make sure and click on the save button to make sure all changes are recorded.

I cannot register my property?

If you are having a hard time registering a property, it means that The Vacation Bug is having trouble verifying your property address as valid. In order to make sure that we provide a very accurate service to renters we try our best to verify all property addresses accurately before they are published. Please call our customer service at 1-877-VAC-BUG1 / 1-877-822-2841.

How do I add / change photos?

This can be done by accessing your property through the EDIT feature. You will need to make sure that your photos comply with the size requirements for upload before entering them onto the site.

How many photos can I post?

The Vacation Bug allows each property to have eight (8) photos attached to the listing. These photos are absolutely FREE to upload and only need to comply with the size requirements outlined on the photo upload page.

Booking Fees

The Vacation Bug has prepared a business model that only makes money after our advertisers (property owners) have booked their properties. All advertising on TheVacationBug.com is absolutely FREE. Only when the property owners accepts a booking from The Vacation Bug is there a $25 charge per booking. This fee is only a booking fee and will remain the same regardless of the renter’s length of stay. Essentially, The Vacation Bug doesn’t make money until we have provided you with a qualified renter.

How can I increase my placement on the rental list?

We understand that having your property towards that top of the rental list will increase the visibility of your property and increase your chances of renting out your property. We allow all of our customers to move up the placement list by increasing the value of each renter. TheVacationBug.com charges a minimum of $25 per renter, but after logging into your account you will see what it takes to move up the list. It is important to remember that you can change what you are willing to pay for a renter whenever you like.

How can I get my property to be a featured property?

It is no secret that our featured properties receive the highest amount of traffic because every renter that visits the site sees these featured listings in all of the key positions. The best part is anyone can have those featured listing locations. Simply log in to your account and you will see what it takes to gain those key positions. Remember, you can adjust what you are willing to pay as often as you like.

Making Payments

You will be required to have a form of payment on record with The Vacation Bug. The Vacation Bug accepts all major credit cards. You can update your account / payment method at any time through your MY ACCOUNT page after you have logged in to TheVacationBug.com. TheVacationBug.com works with the most secure encrypting technology available so all of your account information will be kept private, secure and safe.

No Annual Fees / No Hidden Fees

The Vacation Bug is absolutely FREE to all property owners and/or property managers. There is no annual fee, no hidden fees and there is no renewal from year to year. Simple, once you are advertising with The Vacation Bug, all you have to worry about is keeping your property information accurate for renters. No need to worry about hidden or annual fees ever again.

Updating Account Information

Updating your account information is very important and very easy. By logging into TheVacationBug.com you can access your account information by clicking on the MY ACCOUNT at the top of the page. Here you will have full access to all information and history on your account. You can also make updates and changes to your account in these fields. Make sure and save all changes by clicking save at the bottom of the page.

Cancellation Process

The Vacation Bug understands the rental process. At the same time we understand that reservation sometimes do not always work out. After renter information is released to the property owner / property manager, The Vacation Bug will put a 24 hour hold on all payments. If during that time the property owner / property manager informs The Vacation Bug that the booking did not work out, the property owner / property manager account will never be charged.

For late cancellations, simply file a cancellation refund request through your account field. There requests will be reviewed by The Vacation Bug and accurate cancellations will result in a complete refund of booking fees. These cancellation requests must take place within 30 days of the booking cancellation. Please review all of the “terms and conditions” associated with doing business with The Vacation Bug before advertising on TheVacationBug.com.

Verifying Receipts

All property owners / property managers advertising on TheVacationBug.com will have full access to their account history through their MY ACCOUNT section that can be accessed after logging into TheVacationBug.com.

The Vacation Bug services are absolutely FREE for all travelers / renters. The Vacation Bug will provide you will all of the tools and resources for finding the best vacation rentals available and you will never pay a dime for the service.

How do I view properties?

TheVacationBug.com is very simple to use. In fact, it is more difficult to find this FAQ page than it is to find a property. First select the city that you are interested in visiting. Our entire list of available properties in that area will be presented to you. To further narrow your search, filter your search using the filter tool. This will present you with listings that match your criteria.

How do I inquire about a property?

Simply fill out the inquiry request on the rental page and your information will be sent directly to the Property Owner. At the same time we deliver your contact information to the property owner, we will also send you a follow up email with all of the property owners information so you can go ahead and contact them by phone. We understand that making vacation rental plans is not always easy, but we are doing our part to make the process as simple as possible.
